Leicester City Football Club manager Marti Cifuentes commended Ghana winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku for his performance after the team’s third win in the 2025-2026 English Football League Championship.

Issahaku scored in Leicester’s 2-0 win over Birmingham City with Issahaku’s goal coming in the eighth minute; the goal is Issahaku’s second in as many games.

After being inactive for over six months while recovering from an ACL injury, the Black Stars player is showing huge signs of getting back to his best form and that has caught the attention of Cifuentes.

“Abdul [Fatawu Issahaku], it’s good news for all of us that he is showing he’s fit, that he wants more and more every game, and both of them will be very important for us” Cifuentes said to Leicester City media.

21 year old Issahaku has two goals in four league appearances this season but won’t be involved in Ghana’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers as he wasn’t named in the Black Stars squad that take on Chad and Mali in September.

However, Issahaku’s absence is down to a decision by the GFA and Leicester City to give the young winger time to build himself back to his pre-injury level of fitness.
