Elloeny Amande blasts GFA’s three-term presidency proposal as ‘a slap in the face’

Chief Executive Officer of Karela United and veteran journalist, Elloeny Amande, has strongly criticized recent proposals aimed at extending the term limit of the President of the Ghana Football Association to three terms ; describing the move as “insulting” and “a slap in the face of good governance.”

According to him proceeding on that tangent is contrary to the principles the current administration promised to uphold after the 2018 crisis.

GFA President , Kurt Okraku

“I find it slapping the face of good governance,” Amande said. “And I dare say it’s a betrayal of the principles that underpin the 2019 GFA statutes and regulations that were brought into play.”

He further described the proposal as nothing more than a “power grab” with no real intention of developing Ghana football.

This, to me, is a clear move to grab power, to hold on to it, and to perpetuate a dynasty ;  a cycle. It’s not in the interest of the game.

His sentiments add to growing concerns among football stakeholders over governance, transparency, and accountability within the GFA as the next Ordinary Congress of the GFA approaches on August 12.
