Liverpool Football Club manager Arne Slot has praised his team for standing strong in the face of very physical play from Newcastle United to bag a hard fought but very entertaining 3-2 win over the Magpies.
The defending champions bagged the big win at St. James’ Park thanks to a very late winner from 16 year old Rio Ngumoha.
Speaking in a post-game interview, Slot was impressed with his team’s ability to withstand Newcastle United’s very intense approach to the game.
“I’m not too sure if I saw a football match. It was set-piece after set-piece, long throws. It didn’t have a lot to do with tactics. It was a very difficult first half hour, 45 minutes. We didn’t collapse at all and went 1-0 up but I liked a lot how we stood strong” Slot said.

After beating AFC Bournemouth 4-2 in the opening game of the season, Liverpool’s win over Newcastle maintains the club’s unbeaten run ahead of another important game against Arsenal on Sunday, August 31 at 15:30 GMT.
