“GHC 18m lifeline will revive GPL Clubs” – John Paintsil

Assistant Black Stars Coach John Paintsil has stated that the GHC 18 million package for Ghana Premier League clubs is a massive boost that will ease the financial burden on club owners.

The Ghana Football Association recently announced the financial allocation to the 18 top-flight clubs ahead of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season.

The move is aimed at improving club operations, enhancing player welfare, and sustaining competition standards in the league.

Paintsil believes the investment will bring much-needed relief to those managing football in the country.

“The 18 million GHC for the GPL clubs is a big boost; it will lift the stress of the club owners. People who are running football in Ghana are getting tired without sponsorship from anywhere,” Paintsil told reporters, highlighting the challenges administrators face in keeping clubs afloat.

With the new funds set to be disbursed before the start of the season, many stakeholders are hopeful it will spark renewed enthusiasm in the league, improve matchday experiences, and attract more fans to local games.
