Chelsea Football Club head coach Enzo Maresca says he isn’t bothered about his team’s goalless draw with Crystal Palace to open its 2025-2026 English Premier League campaign.
Coming off winning the FIFA Club World Cup, the Blues were heavily tipped to beat Palace at Stamford Bridge but the Eagles largely strangled the home side to record a frustrating draw.
However, Maresca, in a post-game presser stated that his focus is on the team’s next game on Friday, August 22 against West Ham United in another London derby and not what happens at the end of the season in May.
“We created enough chances in the first half and the second half. Apart from the free-kick, we didn’t concede any [clear-cut] chances but at the same time, we know how tough they are, how well organised they are, and that is why in the last two finals they have beaten Liverpool and Manchester City.”

“I have said many times that I do not think about May or June when the season will be finished. I try to think about the next one, the next game, so now it is about Friday’s game and no more than that” Maresca said.
