Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Satellites, has a new head coach as veteran football trainer Maxwell Konadu has been appointed for the role.

He replaces Desmond Ofei in the role with the latest development giving Ofei the opportunity to fully focus on his role as assistant head coach of Ghana’s Senior National Football Team, the Black Stars.

The appointment marks Konadu’s return to the national setup after serving time as a former Black Stars assistant head coach and Black Galaxies head coach.

Konadu is quite well experienced at the club level as well after coaching Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Legon Cities and Nsoatreman.

He led Nsoatreman to a shock MTN FA Cup triumph in the 2023-2024 season and was recently linked to Accra Hearts of Oak’s head coaching job.

The former player goes into the Black Satellites setup at a time the team is in dire need of positive momentum after failing to qualify to the Under 20 World Cup since last competing in the tournament in 2015.

Desmond Ofei

Ghana under Ofei, exited at the quarterfinal stage of this year’s AFCON; failure to make it to the semifinals automatically meant failure to progress to the world stage.
