Chelsea Football Club head coach Enzo Maresca has confirmed that playmaker Cole Palmer won’t be available for selection for the next two to three weeks as a precautionary measure for the club to protect the England international’s groin injury from getting worse.

He said this in a presser ahead of Chelsea’s league clash against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday, September 27 at 14:00 GMT.

Palmer has been dealing with the groin injury since the start of the season and the injury forced him to miss two league games at the start of the campaign and his minutes have been largely limited when he was available.

“We have decided to protect Cole a little bit, in terms of his injury not getting worse. So we decided to rest him for the next two or three weeks, probably until after the international break, to see whether, with rest, he can recover 100 per cent and be completely fit.”

“It’s a matter of managing the pain in his groin. Hopefully, he can be 100 per cent fit after the international break” Maresca said at the presser.
