Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney is far from ecstatic about the direction of the Red Devils under head coach Ruben Amorim.
This comment comes after Man United suffered its second loss four games into the 2025-2026 English Premier League season after losing 3-0 to Manchester City.
The Manchester Derby had City’s Erling Haaland score a brace with Phil Foden adding another goal despite Pep Guardiola’s men not being at their best.
The latest loss means that under Ruben Amorim, Man United have 16 losses, seven draws and eight wins in 31 league games and Rooney believes that there isn’t much progress being made under the Portuguese.
“I want to be as supportive and positive as I can be on the manager and the players but it is very difficult to sit here and say we are seeing progression, and at least we’re seeing things that will get results in the near future.”

“We’re seeing none of that, and it is very difficult” Rooney said on his podcast on the BBC.

Man United take on Chelsea next on Saturday, September 20 at 16:30 GMT.
