Philadelphia Sixers center, Joel Embiid, has seemingly dismissed suggestions to alter his playing style as a way to avoid injuries that have marred his career.

Embiid played just 19 games in the 2024-2025 season due to a knee injury and foot sprain and is at the time of writing, recovering from surgery he had in the offseason.

Addressing the media on the Sixers’ Media Day, the Cameroon born American 2024 Olympic gold medal winner answered several questions regarding his injuries including those on adjusting his game to avoid such incidents.

“Obviously the goal is to play consistently and not be the position that we were last year. A lot of times for me, my mentality is to do whatever it takes to win.”

“For all of my career, it’s been having to do both. I’ve gotten to this point because of how good I am at both ends of the floor. If you ask me to change the way I play, the only guess that I have is either play offense fully and take plays off defensively, which doesn’t suit me.”

“I don’t think I’d ever be OK with that. If it’s going to be that way, it’s definitely going to be an adjustment, but I don’t see that happening” Embiid said.
