Alidu Seidu’s return to the Black Stars has been rewarded with a starting berth in the team’s final 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Comoros.

The Stade Rennes defender isn’t the only big name picked to start against Comoros at the Accra Stadium on Sunday, October 12 as Ebenezer Annan has been handed a rare start at the expense of veteran left full back Gideon Mensah.

Seidu suffered an ACL injury last season and was ruled out for several months but has made a successful comeback in the 2025-2026 season well enough to return to Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team.

Fellow France based defender Annan, who plays for Ligue 2 side Saint-Etienne, starts at left wing back in the game where a win or a draw officially guarantees Ghana’s qualification to next year’s World Cup.

Benjamin Asare, who has come under intense scrutiny over his prospects of manning the post should Ghana progress to the World Cup, starts in goal for the Black Stars.
