The Zambia Football Association (FAZ) have announced the exit of Avram Grant from his role as head coach of the country’s national men’s football team.

The announcement, signed by the head of media and communications for the Zambian FA, Nkweto Tembwe, was made on Wednesday, October 29 as the Southern African nation prepares to compete in the 2025 AFCON in December.

Despite leading Zambia to back to back AFCON qualification, a slew of poor results and poor performances have led to the exit of the former Ghana Black Stars head coach.

In the past seven games combined in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers and African Nations Championship (CHAN), Zambia have just a 1-0 win over Tanzania in the World Cup qualifiers. Zambia lost all four games at the CHAN.

The Zambian Association stated that the parties agreed to a mutual separation and went on to thank him for his services. Scroll down to read the full statement on Avram Grant’s exit.

“The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) has agreed to mutually separate with Zambia Senior Men’s National Team coach Avram Grant. The two parties agreed to mutually separate with FAZ wishing Mr. Grant the best of luck in his future endeavours,” Shepande says.

“The rest of the details will be communicated in due course. For now can only thank Mr. Grant for his contribution to the Zambian game.”

Zambia is due to participate in the Morocco 2025 AFCON edition where the Chipolopolo are in Group A alongside Morocco, Mali and Comoros.
