After handing Karela United their first loss in the 2025-2026 Ghana Premier League, Hohoe United head coach Abdul Rahim Bashiru has pinned the team’s success on its counter pressing system.

Hohoe United hammered Karela (who have impressed this season) 4-1 to record their maiden win in the Ghana Premier League. On the flip side, Karela lost for the first time this season.

Hohoe United gained promotion to the elite league via winning the Access Bank Division One Zone 3 title and had picked up two draws and a loss in the previous games it played.

Speaking in a post-game presser, the former Accra Hearts of Oak assistant head coach, was happy with the big result and added that,

“During the course of the week, we really worked on counter pressing and our pressing system, I think that’s exactly what happened…they did so well I hope it should continue this way” Rahim Bashiru said.
