Houston Rockets star Kevin Durant has signed a two year contract extension with the Houston Rockets for a reported fee of $90 million.
The deal, which will be activated in the 2026-2027 season, makes Durant the player with the most NBA career earnings.
Durant now has career earnings of $598.2 million that pushes him ahead of LeBron James who has career earnings of $583 million.
Durant is set to play out this season on the final year of his four year contract he signed with Phoenix Suns; he will earn $54 million this season after getting traded from Phoenix to Houston this off-season.
In the wake of Durant’s contract announcement, Rockets head coach Ime Udoka believes the development is great for the organization.

“It’s continuity for a great player being around the organization. I think we all knew when we traded for him, and when he came, it wasn’t a short-term thing. So, it’s good to get to a point where everybody’s happy, and hopefully finish his career here” Udoka said to reporters.

Durant is set to compete in his 19th season in the NBA but his first with the Houston Rockets; he averaged 26.6 points, 7.0 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 62 games last season with the Suns..

The Houston Rockets take on defending NBA champions OKC Thunder in the season opener tonight at 23:30 GMT.
