Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta says striker Viktor Gyokeres’ two goal output in a UEFA Champions League tie against Atletico Madrid was fully deserved.
He said this after the Swedish forward scored twice in Arsenal’s brilliant 4-0 win over Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League at the Emirates Stadium.
Gyokeres scored in the 67th and 70th minute respectively after Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Martinelli had put the Gunners ahead. Atletico conceded all four goals in a 13 minute spell and after the game, Arteta said he was pleased with his striker’s performance.
“Delighted as he- Gyokeres- fully deserved it. The work rate he brings to the team is outstanding. We value a lot of things he does for the team. Hopefully this is the start of some beautiful sequences” Arteta said to Amazon Prime.

Gyokeres was named as the Man of the Match Award winner. Three games into the 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League campaign, Arsenal are yet to lose and are yet to concede a goal.
