Arsenal FC manager Mikel Arteta has pointed to consistency and diligent study of the opposition as the two key items behind the team’s success on set pieces.

The Gunners scored from a set piece to beat Fulham 1-0 this past weekend and Leandro Trossard’s goal improves Arsenal record on goals scored from corners to 37 goals in the league which is 16 more than any team since the start of the 2023-2024 season.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s big UEFA Champions League clash against Atletico Madrid at the Emirates Stadium, Mikel Arteta praised the work of Madrid head coach Diego Simeone and talked up the success of his team from set pieces by stating,

“We keep evolving and keep improving. It’s a system that when you put it in place, the system has to learn every single day, every single game, to become better.”

“That’s in relation to the players that we have and what we learn from ourselves and as well what we learn from the opposition and try to be as consistent as possible.”
