President of football’s world governing body, FIFA, Gianni Infantino has congratulated Ghana for qualifying to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team, the Black Stars, became the fifth African nation to qualify to next year’s tournament after beating Comoros 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium to consolidate its lead atop Group I.
This is the fifth time in six straight editions that Ghana has qualified to the World Cup and the Black Stars’ latest qualification has been acknowledged by FIFA with the President of the organization stating,
“Congratulations to the Black Stars on reaching the FIFA World Cup for the fifth time in history. Your fans will bring colour, style and passion to the greatest FIFA World Cup ever in Canada, Mexico and the United States.”

“We expect that your team will establish more global stars to follow in the footsteps of the famous team that made the quarterfinals of the tournament in South Africa in 2010” he said.
