The shortlist for the various categories in this year’s CAF Awards have been made and subsequently announced by Africa’s football governing body in the lead up to the grand ceremony on Wednesday, November 19.

Galatasaray’s Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, Liverpool’s Mohammed Salah and Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi made the shortlist in the Men’s Player of the Year category.

PSG defender Hakimi, who is nursing a serious ankle injury at the time of writing, impressed with the French club last season by winning a historic Treble (winning the UEFA Champions League, French Ligue 1 and French Cup titles) while leading Morocco to a second qualification to the FIFA World Cup on the bounce.

Egypt’s Mo Salah dominated the English Premier League by winning the league title, top Goal scorer and Player of the Year Award while leading Egypt to next year’s World Cup.

Osimhen missed out on qualifying to the World Cup but won the Turkish Super League and leads the goal scorers’ chart in the UEFA Champions League.
