Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has stated that he expects some players at the club to hand in transfer requests to leave the club in January, 2026 over limited playing time and minutes.
He made this known in his presser ahead of Man United’s English Premier League game against Nottingham Forest on Saturday, November 1.
Man United head into the game on the back of the team’s best run under Amorim that has resulted in three wins in a row for the first time since the Portuguese was appointed. Amorim has been nominated for the Manager of the Month Award for the first time too.
However, on the subject of transfers, the former Sporting Lisbon coach believes that players who are looking to play at the 2026 FIFA World Cup are likely to request to leave the club for more playing time.

“In our club, and you know that we have World Cup, some players are not playing, they will ask to leave, so I have to manage everything” he said according to ESPN.

Joshua Zirkzee, Kobbie Mainoo and Harry Maguire are three players who are reportedly interested in a move in January.

Zirkzee is aiming to be part of the Netherlands team at the 2026 FIFA World Cup while Mainoo and Maguire are hoping to do same in England.
