Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey, has assured the family of the late 16-year-old footballer, Ransford Owusu Ansah, and the general public that justice will be served.

Her assurance follows the appearance of Coach Ibrahim Anyass at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) Headquarters earlier today.

The youth coach was invited to assist in investigations into the alleged sexual abuse of the young footballer, who tragically died earlier this year.

Speaking exclusively to Citi Sports on Friday, November 7, 2025, Dr Lartey expressed confidence that her ministry, working closely with the Ghana Police Service and the Ghana Football Association (GFA), will ensure justice is delivered. She, however, refrained from disclosing specific charges that may be brought against the suspect, citing the ongoing nature of the investigations.

“In all fairness, as the case stands now, he’s still not convicted, and so it will be difficult to say that this is the truth that has been established,” Dr. Lartey said.

I can’t put everything out on air, but from the medicals and the reports we have received, I’m sure the CID and DOVVSU have made some progress. We will follow their guidance to make sure the family receives fair and proper justice.

The Minister further stressed that once the investigations confirm the abuse claims, her ministry will act decisively.

Once it’s established that it’s not just an allegation ; that the child was indeed sodomized, leading to the health complications and his unfortunate demise  the ministry will ensure that the right thing is done. That, I can assure the family and the general public.
