Liverpool FC captain Virgil Van Dijk believes the Reds needed to execute a perfect game plan to beat Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
Liverpool beat Real Madrid 1-0 thanks to an Alexis MacAllister goal in the 61st minute with Dominik Szoboszlai providing the assist.
After enduring a poor of form that had Arne Slot’s team get just a win in seven games, Liverpool have two wins in a row but the team’s second win was a tough one to get according to Van Dijk.
“I think there was a lot of energy and a lot of hard work. Obviously, they have won 14 in the last 15 – they have a lot of quality. So, we had to be spot on in everything we do. I think we performed our game plan perfectly.”
“It is easy to say now because we won twice in a row – in a world of chaos you have to stay calm and see perspective of things” Van Dijk said Amazon Prime after the game.
Former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold made his return to Anfield when he got subbed into the game in the 81st minute.
