Liverpool extended their winless run to six matches after falling 3–0 to a spirited Nottingham Forest side at Anfield on Saturday.

The Reds started brightly, dominating possession and forcing a flurry of early corners. But despite the pressure, they lacked the killer instinct. Alexis Mac Allister and Cody Gakpo both saw shots blocked, while Virgil van Dijk’s header was shut down inside a packed box.

Forest, who absorbed the early waves well, struck the opener in the 32nd minute against the run of play. Murillo pounced on a loose ball from a corner and swept a composed left-footed finish into the bottom corner, silencing the Anfield crowd.

Liverpool pushed back, but goalkeeper Matz Sels proved unbeatable, denying headers from both Mac Allister and Mohamed Salah. And just before halftime, Forest doubled their lead. Neco Williams whipped in a cross, and Nicolò Savona arrived unmarked to fire into the top corner for 2–0.

Arne Slot made four changes in the second half, bringing on Hugo Ekitiké, Federico Chiesa, Andy Robertson and youngster Rio Ngumoha. Yet Liverpool’s finishing continued to disappoint. Salah, Gakpo and Chiesa all missed clear openings, with Forest defending with grit and discipline.

The visitors sealed the contest in the 77th minute. Morgan Gibbs-White finished off a well-rehearsed set-piece routine, drilling a shot into the far corner for Forest’s third of the night.

Liverpool created late chances, but Gakpo and Chiesa again failed to convert. Forest, on the other hand, remained sharp on the counter, forcing Alisson Becker into important saves from Omari Hutchinson and Igor Jesus.

With five minutes added, the Reds looked out of ideas. Forest held firm to secure a memorable win built on organization, intensity and clinical finishing.

For Arne Slot’s side, it was another painful night; dominant in possession but blunt in attack. Forest leave Anfield with three goals, three points and a statement performance, while Liverpool’s alarming slump deepens.
