South Korea Ambassador to Ghana His Excellency Park Kyongsig

The South Korean Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Park Kyongsig, has stated that soccer is the most popular sport in South Korea despite the Asian country’s diversification in sports.

He made this statement in an exclusive interview with Channel One Sports ahead of Ghana’s National Men’s Football Team’s international friendly game against South Korea.

Ghana takes on South Korea on Tuesday, November 18 after losing 2-0 to Japan in a prior friendly game that had Ghana midfielder Francis Abu suffer a serious injury. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“Before, soccer was the maybe only sport we could enjoy but nowadays our people are doing swimming, table tennis and golf.”

“Simply speaking, diversification and enjoying first-hand experience in sports is more important for the people in Korea right now but still soccer is the most popular sport in Korea” Park Kyongsig said.

South Korea lost to Ghana 3-2 at the 2022 FIFA World Cup at the group stage; Ghana still ended up failing to qualify to the next round while South Korea crashed out of the competition at the Round of 16 stage.
