Black Stars celebrate qualification to 2026 FIFA World Cup

Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams has promised that Ghana will achieve “something great” at next year’s FIFA World Cup.

Ghana has qualified to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup which will be co-hosted by the US, Canada and Mexico; it is Ghana’s fifth time qualifying to the grand tournament.

Speaking at an event organized by Chinese Car Maker GWM (Great Wall Motors), the Sports Minister sounded confident about Ghana’s chances of achieving big things at the 2026 World Cup.

“We did not go there [to the Asia Tour to play games against Japan and South Korea] only to win, we went there to learn so we have learnt something and we are more than prepared for next year’s Mundial and we will come back with something great” Kofi Adams said.

In a related development, Minister of Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, announced that 150 Million Ghana Cedis has been allocated to the Black Stars World Cup campaign next year in his National Budget Statement address. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

Ghana’s best performance at the World Cup was at the 2010 edition by making it to the quarterfinal stage but the Black Stars have failed to progress beyond the group stage since.
