Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle is convinced his team needs to improve despite getting its 2025 AFCON campaign off to a winning start.

He shared this in a post-game presser after Nigeria beat Tanzania 2-1 with goals coming from Semi Ajayi and Ademola Lookman.

However, the Super Eagles were far from dominant as the Taifa Stars of Tanzania had solid spells and created decent chances to get the equalizer and this prompted Chelle to call on his team to improve after the win.

“The most important thing at the AFCON is to improve with every game. So, after we analyse the match tonight or tomorrow morning, we have to continue to improve. We have to analyze this win because we did in the first lots of good things.”

“In the second half, we gave Tanzania the chance to come back into the game. We made two mistakes. However, this is the game where we say that we are happy for the win” Chelle said at the presser per peoplesgazette.
