Minister of Sports and Recreation Kofi Adams says he is happy that President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, has ordered for a forensic audit on the 13th African Games that were held in Ghana in 2024.
The multisport competition run from March 8 to March 23, 2024 that had Ghana record its best performance in the history of the competition with 68 medal wins.
However, several reports have suggested that alleged financial mismanagement took place before, during and after the competition.
Speaking on Sporty FM, the Minister said he was happy that President Mahama had called for an audit into the games with the findings expected to be known later this month.
“I’m happy that the President [Mahama] did order for the forensic audit because seriously speaking so many things went wrong with the organization [of the Games].”

“Everyday, I keep receiving requests of people threatening to sue for non-payment of this for rendering this service meanwhile there is no money sitting in the accounts as far as all that is concerned” Kofi Adams said and added that

“At the African level…we haven’t paid our commitment. They are also demanding of us because we signed an agreement to pay some $1.65 million to host those Games. We paid only 800 and something [thousand dollars], the rest we haven’t paid.”
