Director of Marketing at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Jamil Maraby, has been appointed President of the newly constituted Marketing Committee of WAFU Zone B.

The decision was taken at the 18th Ordinary General Assembly of WAFU Zone B held in Rabat, Morocco.

The appointment marks a historic first for the sub-regional football body, as WAFU Zone B establishes a dedicated Marketing Committee for the first time — a move aimed at strengthening its commercial framework and enhancing the visibility and marketability of its competitions.

Jamil Maraby will work alongside Abdoulaye Diabaté of Côte d’Ivoire and Tiendrebeogo Jérôme of Burkina Faso, who have been named as members of the committee.

The team will be tasked with developing marketing strategies, attracting sponsorships, and securing commercial partnerships to support WAFU Zone B tournaments and programmes.

Widely regarded as one of the leading sports marketing professionals in the region, Maraby brings extensive experience to the role.

As GFA Director of Marketing, he has played a key role in securing major sponsorship and partnership deals that have boosted the commercial appeal and financial sustainability of Ghana football.

His appointment is expected to significantly enhance WAFU Zone B’s commercial prospects, with optimism that his leadership will unlock new revenue streams and strengthen the branding of competitions across the zone.
