West Ham United manager Nuno Espirito Santo has lauded defender Aaron Wan-Bissaka for delivering an impressive performance in the Hammers’ EPL game against Manchester United that kept the team on pace to move out of the relegation zone.
Espirito Santo’s praise for the DR Congo international came after West Ham’s 1-1 draw with Man United at Old Trafford in a game that had Man United take the game’s lead in the 58th minute through Diogo Dalot but West Ham level the contest through a Soungotou Mangassa goal in the 83rd minute.
Speaking in a post-game presser to Sky Sports, Espirito Santo praised his defenders for their efforts especially Wan-Bissaka who joined West Ham from Man United two seasons ago.
“We should be proud of the work of the boys, they work really hard to contain Man Utd. We went for the game. The boys worked really hard. We have to be glad.”

“I think [Aaron Wan-Bissaka] played well. Our defence was OK. The goal we conceded came from a rebound. Nothing to do with organisation – the cover was there, the hard work was there. I think all of the defensive work was very very positive” Espirito Santo said.

After the draw, West Ham rank 18th in the league with 12 points but trail 16th ranked Nottingham Forest by three points. The Hammers take on another tricky tie away from home against Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday, December 7 at 14:00 GMT.
