Nigeria’s National Men’s Football Team captain Wilfred Ndidi has shared his assessment of the altercation that happened between Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman in Nigeria’s game against Mozambique at the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

The Super Eagles hammered Mozambique 4-0 in the round of 16 stage to qualify to the quarterfinals where Nigeria are scheduled to play against the winner of the Algeria-DR Congo clash.

However, the big win was overshadowed by the heated clash between Lookman and Osimhen in the 63rd minute with Nigeria up 3-0.

Nigeria head coach Eric Chelle said the issue will be addressed in private and for Ndidi, the issue happened because it involved two passionate people and was addressed after the game. (Click highlighted text to read full story)

“It was just the competitive mindset. We wanted more, we agreed we want more goals so that moment, it was just we wanted more.”

“You know when two people want it more, so I think that was what really happened at that time. Of course everything is fine, everything is okay. Everyone is together. Everyone is in this together so we are all together” Ndidi said to ESPN.
