Democratic Republic of Congo head coach Sebastien Desabre says luck was harsh on his side after the Leopards crashed out of the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.

DR Congo lost 1-0 to Algeria in the round of 16 stage thanks to a brilliant goal by Adil Boulbina who stepped off the bench to score the stunning goal in the final minutes of extra time after a goalless draw in regulation time.

Algeria will compete in the quarterfinals against the Super Eagles of Nigeria who dominated Mozambique to the tune of a 4-0 win in the round of 16 stage.

Speaking after the loss to Algeria, Desabre expressed his disappointment over the result and said luck was harsh on the Leopards stating to CAF that,

“We did an excellent job and now we are disappointed. I congratulate the Algerian team and wish them the best. We gave a good tactical display in the match, but unfortunately luck was harsh on us.”

“I have nothing to reproach the players for, and we must keep our heads held high because we gave everything we had.”  Scroll down to watch Adil Boulbina’s goal against DR Congo
