Arsenal FC manager Mikel Arteta says it is sad to see Ruben Amorim sacked by Manchester United after 14 months in charge of the Red Devils.

Amorim was sacked earlier this week after a poor run of games and a clash with Man United’s head of football operations Jason Wilcox.

At the time of his sacking, Man United rank sixth in the league standings and Michael Carrick and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer are front runners to take interim charge of the club reportedly.

Speaking ahead of Arsenal’s crunch game against Liverpool on Thursday, January 8 at the Emirates Stadium, Arteta spoke about Amorim’s dismissal stating to Arsenal media,

“It’s always sad to see a colleague lose his job.”

“We’re now where we are. At the end of the day, you need to win a lot of football matches if you want to stay in the job. That’s the reality and the nature of the job.”

Arsenal lead the EPL standings with 48 points, six more than second ranked Manchester City ahead of the Liverpool game. Liverpool rank fourth.
