Interim Manchester United head coach Michael Carrick has called for calm and continued improvement despite guiding the Red Devils to three consecutive victories.

United’s revival under what fans have dubbed “Carrick Ball” gathered further momentum with a dramatic 3–2 win over Fulham, sealed by a late winner in a thrilling contest that kept Old Trafford on its feet.

But while optimism is beginning to grow around the club, Carrick insists his side will not be carried away by the recent upturn in results.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the match, the former United midfielder emphasised a game-by-game approach.

“We’re not getting too far ahead of it. It’s really about taking it game by game. We can be better than we were today ;  there’s still a lot more to come from us in different aspects of the game. We’ve only been together three weeks, we’re working on things and trying to improve. Today was about finding a way to win. Three in a row is good, but we want more.

Carrick admitted he would prefer more comfortable victories, but acknowledged the emotional lift that late wins can bring to a squad still finding its identity.

“When wins come like that, it feels like more than just three points. That feeling spreads through everyone.

The 44-year-old also reserved special praise for his players’ resilience, particularly after conceding late goals in recent matches yet still managing to respond positively.

Credit to the boys. We knew Fulham would be tough;  they’re a very good side and we had a lot of questions to answer. To go again and find a late winner, I’m delighted for Benji. He deserves it. It’s a huge moment for all of us, but especially for him. He’s been fantastic since I came in.

United’s narrow victory may not have been flawless, but it signals a growing belief within the squad and among supporters.
