Chelsea head coach Liam Rosenior has praised defender Wesley Fofana for the toughness he has shown after getting racially abused.

The French defender was racially abused online after Chelsea’s 1-1 draw with lowly ranked Burnley FC in the past round of English Premier League games.

Fofana was red carded and his absence affected Chelsea who went on to concede the equalizing goal in the 94th minute.

Speaking in his presser ahead of Chelsea’s league tie against fellow London side Arsenal on Sunday, March 1, Rosenior shared his excitement about Chelsea’s upcoming UEFA Champions League round of 16 stage game against defending champions Paris Saint-Germain. “It was a tough day for Wes. First for what happened in the game and the racist abuse he got online. It affects you in ways that shouldn’t exist. It’s something we have to try and eradicate from life and football. He is strong and has trained this week.”
