West Ham United have signed Chelsea defender Axel Disasi on a loan deal till the end of the 2025-2026 season after a turbulent run in recent months.
The French defender was exiled by former Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca as a measure to get him and English winger Raheem Sterling to move to other clubs.
However, both players stayed and were forced to train away from the main squad even after a coaching change that had Liam Rosenoir brought in from Strasbourg; Sterling has since reached a mutual agreement to terminate his contract making a free agent.
For Disasi, the Hammers were able to get him from London rivals Chelsea to prop up their defense that has fared very poorly.
At the time of writing, the Hammers rank 18th in the 20 team English Premier League standings and have conceded 48 goals in 24 games.

After signing to join West Ham on the loan deal, Disasi said, “I’m very happy to be here, to have this opportunity. I’m just ready to fight and to play games” in his first official statement as a Hammer.

West Ham take on fellow strugglers Burnley next on Saturday, February 7 next.
