The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has rejected claims that it funded individuals to travel to Germany for the Black Stars’ international friendlies.

In a statement released on March 29, 2026, the Ministry described the allegations, which stem from a viral social media video, as false and baseless.

It explained that the individuals seen in the video are not known to the Sports Minister and were only briefly encountered at the airport during boarding. The Ministry said the interaction was casual and had no connection to any official arrangement.

According to the statement, the Minister travelled alone on official duty to meet the Black Stars and their technical team ahead of the matches, without an accompanying delegation.

The Ministry emphasised that no individual was sponsored, facilitated, or upgraded for the trip by either the Minister or the Ministry.

It also clarified that no public funds or corporate sponsorships have been allocated for the friendlies, and no provisions have been made to support fan travel.

The Ministry has therefore urged the public to ignore what it calls misleading claims, reiterating its commitment to transparency, accountability, and the responsible use of public funds.
