Ghana Football Association (GFA) Club Licensing Manager Esme Mends has highlighted the challenges clubs competing in the Ghana Premier League experience.

He made this revelation during an interview on the GFA Podcast where he spoke on various issues affecting football’s growth in Ghana.

Aside financial challenges, the administrator pointed to poor sports facilities in the country that clubs competing in Ghana’s elite football club competition have access to.

“We can’t mention challenges without mentioning finance, it is one (of the challenges affecting Ghana football). In terms of infrastructure…when you look around, we have about just four clubs who own their own stadia.”

“Out of 18 clubs, we have just about seven owning their own facilities” he said while highlighting the likes of Nations FC, Medeama SC, Bibiani Gold Stars and Hohoe United as the few clubs who own their facilities.
