End of an Era: Salah to leave Liverpool after nine stellar years

Mohamed Salah is set to leave Liverpool Football Club at the end of the 2025–26 season, closing a remarkable chapter at Anfield.

The Egypt forward will continue to focus on Liverpool’s push for success for the rest of the campaign, with formal farewells and tributes expected later in the year.

Salah leaves as one of the most influential players in the club’s modern era, pivotal to Liverpool’s recent achievements. His standout 2024–25 season saw him play a key role in securing the club’s 20th league title, while posting extraordinary personal statistics that cemented his place in Premier League history.

He finished the season with 29 Premier League goals to claim the Golden Boot and added 18 assists, earning the Playmaker of the Season award. His 47 goal involvements matched the record for a single Premier League campaign.

Salah’s outstanding form also earned him several major accolades, including PFA Players’ Player of the Year, Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year, and Premier League Player of the Season.

In the 2025–26 season, Salah has continued to make his mark, recording 12 goals and nine assists in 37 appearances across all competitions as of 24 March 2026.

Over his entire Liverpool career, he has amassed 421 appearances, 250 goals, and 117 assists, cementing his place among the club’s most prolific players and standing as the third-highest goalscorer in Liverpool’s history.

His consistency in front of goal and ability to influence matches have been defining features of his time at Anfield. Over several seasons, he has combined goalscoring with creativity, making him one of the Premier League’s most effective attacking players.

Despite the announcement of his impending departure, Salah’s immediate focus remains on finishing the current season strongly. Liverpool still has targets to pursue, and the forward is expected to play a key role as the campaign reaches its decisive phase.

His departure will mark the end of an era for Liverpool, with the club set to bid farewell to one of its most decorated and influential players in recent history.
