Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have confirmed that Achraf Hakimi will miss their UEFA Champions League semifinal clash against Bayern Munich on May 6 due to injury.

In an official statement, the club said Hakimi sustained a thigh injury during the first leg in Paris, where PSG secured a 5-4 win. The Moroccan defender played the full match and assisted Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for his second goal of the game.

PSG, the defending Champions League winners, will feel the absence of the reigning African Footballer of the Year. Hakimi had suffered a major ankle injury earlier in the competition when both sides met in the preliminary stage, making this latest setback another concern for the French club.

“Having sustained an injury to his right thigh during the match against Bayern Munich, Achraf Hakimi will be out of action for the next few weeks” the club statement read.

In 31 games in all competitions, the 27-year-old has three goals and nine assists to his credit.
