Brighton & Hove Albion manager Fabian Hürzeler has praised the significant impact Roberto De Zerbi had during his time at the club.

Hürzeler made the remarks ahead of Brighton’s Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, April 17, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

De Zerbi managed Brighton for two seasons before leaving for Olympique Marseille and was recently appointed Spurs manager as the North London side battles to avoid relegation.

His first game in charge ended in a 1-0 defeat to Sunderland, with his second fixture set to come against his former side.

Speaking at a pre-match press conference, Hürzeler spoke highly of De Zerbi’s influence, stating that his predecessor laid a strong foundation and played a key role in shaping the team’s identity and style of play.

“I think he deserves the praise because he had a huge impact here on the club and achievements on the players. On the other side, when the whistle blows, it is a game between Brighton and Tottenham and our approach is the same” he said.
