Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez was dismissed from Manchester United’s game against Leeds United for violent conduct after pulling Leeds striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s hair. Scroll down to watch video

The Argentine was sent off in the 56th minute for the offense after a VAR check by referee Paul Tierney. Martinez’s exit came early in the second half of Man United’s shock 2-1 loss at home to derby rivals Leeds.

Noah Okafor scored twice for Leeds with both goals coming in the first half prior to Martinez’s exit. Casemiro scored Man United’s consolation goal in the 69th minute off an assist from Bruno Fernandes.

Man United stays in third place after the loss but failed to establish a lead over fourth ranked Aston Villa who drew 1-1 with Nottingham Forest. Leeds on the other hand rank 15th and hold a six point lead over the relegation zone.

“It’s a massive result for us. We came here to win, that’s how we set up. We executed the game plan and came away with three points. We’re delighted.”

“I don’t know, I don’t make the rules. I felt my hair get pulled, told the ref, he makes the decisions. Unfortunate for him, whether he’s meant it or not. I hold no grudges” Calvert-Lewin said.
