Interim Kumasi Asante Kotoko head coach Prince Yaw Owusu has officially stepped down from his role. The development was announced by the club on Monday, April 20.
Owusu stepped up to the head coaching role on an interim basis following the sacking of Karim Zito earlier in the 2025-2026 season.
Under Prince Owusu, Kotoko’s fortunes didn’t improve as the Porcupine Warriors failed to win games consistently and suffered big losses to rivals Accra Hearts of Oak (1-0) and 4-0 to Medeama SC. The club also got eliminated from the MTN FA Cup to Aduana at the round of 16 stage.
A portion of the club’s statement on Prince Owusu’s departure read,
“Interim Head Coach Prince Yaw Owusu has stepped down from his role with immediate effect. The coach stated in his resignation letter that his decision was taken in the greatest interest of the club”.

Assistant head coach Hamza Obeng will take over as head coach till the end of the season. Kotoko have five more games to close out the season.
