Minutes after getting kicked out of the 2025-2026 UEFA Champions League tournament, FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is already looking forward to achieving a trophy winning feat to close out the campaign.
Barcelona beat Spanish rival Atletico Madrid 2-1 but failed to qualify to the semifinals of the competition after losing 3-2 on aggregate. Barcelona lost 2-0 in the first leg at the Camp Nou.
Barcelona had a blistering start to the game by scoring twice in 25 minutes to open the game and tie the contest on aggregate but Ademola Lookman’s goal in the 31st minute proved to be the difference maker and sent Barcelona crashing out of the competition.
Speaking to the BBC after the loss, Hansi Flick shared that exiting the Champions League was painful and added that the club’s focus had switched to winning the Spanish La Liga with Barcelona holding a seven point lead.

“We played a fantastic first half. We had to score more goals. It was really possible. At the end we conceded the goal. In the end, it’s football. But the attitude, I am really proud of that.”

“The next step is to win La Liga. We have to show the attitude, the mentality. We are all disappointed. For everyone, it’s a big dream to win the Champions League.”

“For me, I don’t care about when we win La Liga. I want to win La Liga. It doesn’t matter what day we win La Liga. Now we can focus on La Liga” Flick said.
