Aston Villa manager Unai Emery is adamant his team’s UEFA Europa League semi final tie against Nottingham Forest is not over yet.
He said this in an interview with TNT Sports after Villa lost 1-0 to Forest in the first leg that was played at Nottingham’s City Ground. Chris Wood converted a 71st minute penalty to give Forest the win.
Emery, who has won the Europa League title four times in his career as a manager, talked extensively about the positive things his team did well and drew inspiration for the second leg.
“We couldn’t score, we conceded, but we controlled. We lost but did the match we planned. We had our chances to score and had momentum. We were successful in stopping their high press, the match was going like we planned. We defended well. The penalty was one action that happened.”

“After the goal we kept same idea to draw the match, but more important was not to concede another goal. The match is not finished, it continues next week. We must come back” Emery said.
