Head coach of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), Luis Enrique, insists there are no favourites in the UEFA Champions League knockout stage.
He made the remarks ahead of the quarterfinal first leg between PSG and Liverpool FC in France on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
The two sides met in last season’s round of 16, where PSG advanced 4-1 on penalties, a run that ultimately led to their first Champions League title.
Speaking ahead of the clash, Enrique acknowledged Liverpool’s quality, despite the Reds’ struggles during the 2025–2026 season.
“We’re going to try to have the ball more than Liverpool, a very good team with quality players and a very good coach. It’ll be difficult. We’re aware of the difficulty but we’re motivated.”

“Last season, we put in one of our best performances, but we lost. Liverpool were favourites, and PSG qualified. There’s no favourite at this stage of the competition. It’s impossible that there’s a favourite. For me, there isn’t one” Enrique said according to the club’s media.
