Wolfsburg staved off relegation to the Bundesliga 2 by beating St. Pauli 3-1 to score a much needed win and finish 16th in the 18 team Bundesliga standings in the 2025-2026 season.

The win secured the club’s place in a two-legged relegation playoff tie against Bundesliga 2 outfit Paderborn for a place in next season’s top flight division.

The first of two legs takes place in Wolfsburg on Thursday, May 21 with the return leg scheduled for May 25 at Paderborn.

Wolfsburg ended the recent campaign with 32 points off winning just seven games, drawing eight and losing 19. Wolfsburg finished just three points ahead of relegated Heidenheim.

Adjetey joined Wolfsburg from Swiss side FC Basel in January this year on a four year contract. The deal is expected to end in June, 2030.
