Liverpool ended their 2025/26 Premier League campaign with a 1-1 draw against Brentford in a lively final-day encounter that featured a mix of dominance, missed chances, and late drama at both ends.

Mohamed Salah once again played a central role for the Reds, providing the assist for Curtis Jones’ opener as Liverpool looked on course to sign off the season with victory.

The Egyptian star led several of Liverpool’s attacking moves and came close to scoring himself, striking the post from a free-kick in the first half and forcing a sharp save from Caoimhín Kelleher.

Liverpool started brightly and created a string of early chances, with Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai all going close before halftime. However, despite their control, they were unable to extend their lead.

The breakthrough finally arrived in the 58th minute when Salah picked out Curtis Jones on the break, with the midfielder finishing calmly into the bottom corner to give Liverpool a deserved advantage.

Brentford, however, refused to go quietly. They gradually grew into the game and eventually found their equaliser in the 64th minute when Kevin Schade rose highest in the box to head home and level the score at 1-1.

From that point, the match opened up, with both sides pushing for a winner. Liverpool introduced Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong from the bench in search of fresh attacking momentum, while Brentford also made key changes to swing the game in their favour.

Late efforts from Virgil van Dijk and Milos Kerkez came close for Liverpool, but neither side could find a decisive breakthrough in the closing stages. Van Dijk’s long-range attempt sailed over the bar, while Brentford threatened on the counter but were kept out by a solid defensive effort.

The final whistle confirmed a 1-1 draw, bringing Liverpool’s season to a close with mixed emotions. While Salah’s influence and Jones’ goal provided positives, the inability to hold onto the lead will leave questions heading into the summer break.

For Brentford, the result caps off a resilient performance away from home, as they matched Liverpool’s intensity and earned a deserved point on the final day of the season.
