Real Madrid interim head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has praised the club’s swift response to the reported altercation between Aurelien Tchouameni and Federico Valverde, saying the players’ apologies were enough to show remorse.
Valverde and Tchouameni were reportedly involved in a heated clash during two training sessions, which is said to have spilt into the dressing room and left Valverde with a cut on his forehead.
The Uruguay international was later taken to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with a concussion that is expected to sideline him for 10 to 14 days, ruling him out of Sunday’s El Clásico on Sunday, May 10.
Both players have since apologised and were fined €500,000 each. Speaking ahead of the match, Arbeloa welcomed the club’s handling of the situation and the players’ response to the incident.

“I have to tell you two things. First, I am very proud of the decisiveness, speed, and transparency with which the club has acted.”

“Second, the players have already expressed their remorse, acknowledged their mistake, taken responsibility for their actions, and apologised to the fans, the club, and the dressing room. For me, that is enough” Arbeloa said.
