Black Stars coach Carlos Queiroz has urged unity and discipline as Ghana steps up preparations for the World Cup, describing the challenge ahead as a “Mission Impossible” with 17 days to go.

In an open letter, he called on players and supporters to commit fully as the team targets a strong showing on the global stage.

“Today, with 24 days remaining before our first World Cup challenge, we begin what many may call a Mission (Im)possible,” he wrote.

Queiroz said there are no shortcuts to success and stressed the need for hard work and sacrifice.

“We know the price that must be paid, sacrifice, discipline, relentless effort, and total dedication if we are to honour the dreams and expectations of the people of Ghana,” he said.

He added that the team must set the right tone from the start.

“If our dream is to make a difference at the end, we have to start by being different at the beginning,” he noted.

Linking the campaign to national pride, he said commitment must define the team’s identity.

“When the mission is to serve the pride, prestige, and football sense of Ghana, pain becomes a privilege, sacrifice becomes duty, and commitment becomes our identity. We are ready to fight together for every ball, every moment, for our dream,” he wrote.

Carlos Queiroz is currently in Wales with 28 Black Stars players as Ghana prepares to face Wales on Tuesday, June 2, as part of its build-up to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
