The African side completed a comeback by getting goals through Doue and Manchester United’s Amad Diallo to score a 2-1 win over France after going down by a goal thanks to Rayan Cherki’s brilliant strike.
Manchester City midfielder Cherki beat his marker with a nifty footwork before blasting the ball into the net in the 45th minute but Guela Doue equalised in the 53rd minute with his brother seated on France’s bench.
Diallo scored the winner in the 84th minute by finishing off a sweeping move involving Nicolas Pepe.
Born in France, Guela switched nationality to play for Cote D’Ivoire and featured in the Elephants’ 2025 AFCON campaign and is set to compete at the World Cup with Cote D’Ivoire drawn in Group E with Ecuador, Curacao and Germany while 2018 World Champions France are in Group I with Iraq, Norway and Senegal.
