He said this in an interview while working as a pundit covering the 2026 FIFA World Cup where Ghana is scheduled to play against Colombia in the round of 32 stage.

Balotelli, who is of Ghanaian descent, spoke about the Black Stars where he picked two former players Sulley Muntari and Stephen Appiah as the players from the Ghana team that he looked up to.

“I used to love Stephen Appiah then I played with Sulley Muntari. These two are the…players I looked up to the most especially Sulley because we played together in Inter [Milan] and we played together in [AC] Milan” he said.

Appiah and Muntari starred for the Black Stars at the 2006 and 2010 FIFA World Cups with Muntari also featuring in the 2014 World Cup.
