Arsenal Football Club has issued a statement regarding the health status of defender William Saliba ahead of the start of the 2026-2027 football season.
The reigning English Premier League Champions delivered this statement where the Gunners clarified that the French defender won’t need to have surgery to fix a back issue he has been dealing with since last season.
The statement added that though the French international won’t need surgery to correct the issue, he will be out of action for an extended period meaning he will miss the start of the upcoming season.
“Extensive assessments have concluded that surgery is not recommended, but William should now commence a managed recovery programme.”
“William’s rehabilitation will commence immediately, with continual management of his injury, and he is expected to be out of action for an extended period” the club statement read.
Saliba played an integral role in Arsenal’s league triumph and brilliant run to the UEFA Champions League Final last season.
The back issues forced him to miss France’s bronze medal game against England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup; France lost 6-4.
